The people of the island and who they are in their own words!

Hello folks! I'm Drew Smith, the local mortician of the island. Well, not quite a mortician yet, as I work under the apprenticeship of my grandfather. Not for very long, though! He's leaving for the mainland for the holidays, and I couldn't be more excited for this opportunity! I'm aware this may sound a bit morbid, but I do want a chance to independently examine the bodies that come to us, and to prove myself as a competent doctor. Sue me. (Don't, though. Most of my money goes into the food I buy with Yusuf anyway). Speaking of, I have to meet him today at Mocair's Pub, so I must take your leave. See you around!

I am José Pietro, the 52 year old librarian of the island. One could say that my library is the treasure trove of all knowledge on the island and I am it's keeper. I am an Old Monk enthusiast along with my best friend Antonio D'costa and am a common customer of the pub in town. Some might call me annoyingly extroverted but some might also call me a family man as I love some people's families.

Harry Mathews here. Sariah Jacques was sent a letter informing her of this task. She chose not to reply. Sariah Jacques is a renowned archeologist who first came to the island when the ruins of the Temple were discovered. She has stayed here ever since. Sariah Jacques, though an enigma for most, is a respectable member of this community who spends her day around town, keeping to herself.

Hello everyone! First of all I’d like to thank Harry for asking me to help bringing our tiny community just a bit more closer. I love activities like these, that is what I run the bakery for- to spread warmth and love. My day may seem quite simple to some but its perfect to me. I wake up and check on my batches of shortbreads, pastries, croissants and eclairs and then fire up the oven. The rest of my day just goes in managing the grocery store, the four people working with me can be quite a pain sometimes (most of the times) but I bear with them. After a long day I love a relaxing bath and a nice cup of chamomile tea. Nothing like it to help you sleep. Feel free to drop by anytime at Mommy June’s Grocery and Bakery, we are open from 9-6 all week! Serving you loads and loads of love.

Erin F. D'Costa. Mechanic, owner of the Fuel Good Garage, manager of morons. From my morning coffee with Akira who is my apprentice, to making extravagant food, to my late night car repair sprees, there's not a single moment in my life which is monotonous, and that's exactly how I like it. This town is monotonous enough for my taste, and rotting around and sitting like a resident corpse doesn't interest me. (I'm also not intrigued by this little waste of time Harry has started anyways).

About me? I’m Akeno Bo. I wake up late normally, I write all night. Some times I drink all night. But both my vices are because of where I once was, and where I am now. Sure, I've got the restaurant and inn, but it really just runs itself. I get the money delivered to my place. It's the same as Erin's place, but I like to think it's mine too. One day I'll be able to pay her back, this house gives me such wonderful ideas! I'm sure someone will publish me again, just my name should be enough...but about my days? I spend all my time thinking. And writing. An artist's lament, am I right?
